Summary

Drawing on the in-house findings from RSGI’s June 2026 research, commissioned by Harvey, this report examines how legal AI’s value is showing up in commercial results. The findings show that 92% report faster turnaround of legal work to the business, while 65% saw measurable benefits within one month of adopting Harvey.

From that immediate impact, four lasting outcomes follow:

  1. Creating capacity
  2. Elevating legal’s standing in the business
  3. Insourcing more legal work
  4. Redefining value from outside counsel

The report explores how these shifts are changing the in-house operating model, including how legal teams allocate work and budgets, where outside expertise adds the most value, and how AI-enabled legal services may be priced.

Based on research with Harvey customers, including a survey of 25 in-house legal teams and 22 in-depth interviews.
