Legal questions rarely have simple answers. Thoroughness matters — and with new reasoning capabilities, Harvey can now produce more thorough answers than ever before.
With agentic document search, multi-source querying, and deep analysis across internal and external data, Harvey now delivers faster, more comprehensive, and more context-rich insights. Whether you’re handling quick Q&A or complex, multi-document analyses, Harvey can think deeper and connect the dots across multiple sources to deliver nuanced outputs.
Agentic Search: Smarter, Iterative Document Search
Harvey’s new agentic search raises the baseline quality of every query. Instead of relying on a one-shot search, Harvey now performs iterative, agentic searches over documents — refining its approach until it has extracted all salient insights.
Imagine you’re reviewing a merged file of vendor agreements to determine how termination rights are structured. You ask, “Do any of these contracts include a termination-for-convenience clause, and if so, how much notice is required?” A traditional one-shot search might miss key variations in contract language or run into context limits when combing through the merged file. With agentic search, Harvey iteratively refines its search until it finds all of the information it needs — yielding answers that are more complete and reliable.
Agentic search enables:
- Iterative search: Harvey can write and run multiple targeted searches, refining its approach until it collects enough information to answer the query.
- Flexible queries: You can now incorporate more context into your query mid-thread by adding or swapping one or more sources.
- Expanded context: Harvey can retrieve and process a larger set of relevant content, allowing it to consider more of your materials when formulating an answer.
- Broader scope: Agentic search is available for queries over individual sources (like uploaded documents and vaults), and is automatically enabled for multi-source queries across Harvey’s connected knowledge bases.
Agentic search also lays the technical foundation for Harvey’s deep analysis over any source — Harvey’s most advanced mode for complex, multi-source legal analysis and reports.
The Deep Analysis Approach: Comprehensive, Context-Rich Legal Analysis
For complex queries requiring thorough understanding of source material, deep analysis can provide you with in-depth, nuanced reports.

Say, for example, you’ve been put on an ongoing deal that contains over 2,000 documents, spreadsheets, slide decks, emails, and attachments. A quick summary of the vault or review table extracting multiple data points can help, but deep analysis is needed to get fully up to speed on the big picture.
With deep analysis, you can simply ask, “What’s happened on this deal in the last month?” This is where deep analysis shines: It will plan a research strategy, use agentic search across a large corpus of internal documents and scattered data, and resurface in minutes with a citation-backed report detailing key context, timelines, stakeholders, and next steps.
Every response includes citations to the sources referenced, so you can evaluate credibility and understand where to dig deeper.
New: Deep Analysis Over Multiple Sources

Initially launched for web-based analysis, deep analysis now works across any source, allowing you to perform complex queries and even combine public and proprietary data into one analysis task. You can:
- Perform sophisticated legal research: Access Harvey’s 100+ legal knowledge sources, including Wolters Kluwer and other proprietary databases.
- Analyze internal knowledge: Evaluate internal data via Vault or integration with iManage and other DMS providers.
- Mix across sources: Seamlessly analyze across multiple sources in one task.
Whether you're at a firm or in-house, Harvey’s advanced research and analysis tools help you search, structure, and synthesize complex legal topics. This way, you can unify external research with internal knowledge to deliver comprehensive, well-cited outputs.
