Harvey, the leading AI platform for legal and professional services, today announced a data partnership with Otto Schmidt (OS), a leading German legal publisher specializing in business law, tax law, and accounting. The partnership will integrate content from the Otto Schmidt Legal Data Hub, built on Otto Schmidt’s expansive content library of over 120 modules and powered by LDA Legal Data Analytics GmbH, directly into Harvey’s platform. This will enable legal professionals to conduct research and build workflows grounded in Germany’s most trusted secondary legal sources.

“We are excited to partner with Otto Schmidt to bring one of Germany’s most trusted legal content libraries directly into Harvey,” said Jorge Bestard, VP of EMEA at Harvey. “Germany is one of our fastest-growing markets, and this partnership gives our customers access to the authoritative business and tax law content they rely on, directly within the AI workflows they use every day.”

Prof. Dr. Felix Hey, Managing Partner of Verlag Dr. Otto Schmidt, said, “We see strong demand for making high-quality legal content accessible in modern, AI-supported environments. Partnering with leading platforms allows legal professionals to benefit from AI while relying on authoritative sources.”

Kai Jacob, Director Markets & Growth and Co-Founder of LDA Legal Data Analytics, said, "This integration shows how legal content can be structured and seamlessly incorporated into modern applications in an AI-compatible way. At LDA, we see ourselves as a technology infrastructure partner that connects content, publishers, and applications. We focus on creating an open, integratable foundation so reliable, specialized content is available across various usage contexts."

The partnership expands Harvey’s growing network of hundreds of global legal data sources, reinforcing its position as the unified platform where lawyers can access, search, and cite legal knowledge from around the world. With Otto Schmidt’s trusted content available in Harvey, lawyers will be able to access German legal commentary alongside internal knowledge, precedent documents, and other integrated data sources without switching tools or losing context.

“Our lawyers rely in particular on Otto Schmidt for authoritative commentary on German business law, and Harvey for AI-powered legal research and drafting. Bringing the two together in a single platform removes friction and allows our teams to work faster and with greater confidence, grounded in the sources they already trust,” said Pierre Zickert, Head of Legal Tech & AI Governance at Hengeler Mueller.

Example use cases include:

  • Business law research: Querying Otto Schmidt’s authoritative commentaries on German corporate, commercial, and M&A law to support transaction work, due diligence, and regulatory analysis.
  • Tax advisory and compliance: Accessing up-to-date tax law commentary and analysis directly within Harvey to support tax structuring, compliance opinions, and client advisory work.
  • Drafting and legal writing: Grounding memos, opinions, and transactional documents in trusted Otto Schmidt content, with citations linked directly to underlying sources.
  • Cross-border matters: Combining Otto Schmidt’s German legal expertise with Harvey’s other integrated knowledge sources to support international transactions and multi-jurisdictional advice.
