:Harvey:’s Legal Intelligence Now Lives Inside Microsoft 365

Harvey is now available as an agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Cowork.

Legal teams don't need more tools. They need the tools they already use to work smarter for them.

The average lawyer spends over an hour a day moving between systems just to assemble the context needed to start working — jumping from email to document management system to research platforms before writing a single sentence. When it comes to AI tools, the problem isn't access; it’s that legal AI hasn't been built into the workflow where legal work actually happens.

Harvey is now available as an agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot and a plugin inside Copilot Cowork, bringing expert-level legal intelligence directly into the environment where legal teams already work. Copilot is a general purpose AI assistant embedded across Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, and the rest of the Microsoft 365 platform — helping users get answers, draft content, and summarize information inline. Copilot Cowork goes further, orchestrating longer, multi-step tasks across Microsoft 365 applications as a connected workflow. Harvey plugs into both, adding specialized legal intelligence at every stage.

Copilot

Get Smarter Legal Answers, Faster

Harvey in Copilot brings precedent-aware legal AI to Microsoft 365, enabling legal professionals to ask questions, research issues, analyze documents, and pull in content from their Harvey Vault, a centralized document repository in Harvey, all without switching platforms. Here’s what you can do with this integration:

Get instant legal answers, right where you're working. Simply @Harvey in Copilot or select the Harvey agent from the sidebar to ask general legal questions, research an issue, or request analysis on a document. Harvey delivers specialized legal intelligence inline, with no workflow interruption.

Retrieve precedent documents from Vault. Legal teams can pull in content from their Harvey Vault, including precedent deals, prior work product, and negotiation positions, and analyze documents directly within the Copilot interface. The institutional knowledge your team has built in Harvey is accessible exactly when it's needed.

Conduct deeper analysis in Harvey. When a question turns into a larger task, clicking the source link moves the thread into Harvey's web environment. Everything is available to continue your work with the right context: advanced reasoning, work product refinement, memo drafting, and argument development.

Key use cases:

  1. Contract review under deadline. Upload an agreement in Copilot and @Harvey to flag non-standard terms and deviations from market norms — with Vault surfacing your team's prior positions automatically. Click into Harvey for deeper redline analysis when the task warrants it. What used to require a full day of manual research and incremental editing now takes a fraction of the time.
  2. M&A due diligence. Use Harvey in Copilot to kick off issue spotting across a document set, pulling precedents and comparable deals from Vault without leaving Microsoft 365. For high-priority agreements, escalate to Harvey's full environment for deep analysis on liability, change of control, and termination provisions.
Cowork

Execute Multi-Step Work, Powered by Copilot Cowork

Copilot meets lawyers where they are, and Copilot Cowork takes it a step further. When Cowork is planning and executing multi-step work across Microsoft 365, Harvey's legal answers surface automatically as part of that workflow. Lawyers can use the Harvey plugin within a Cowork session to get specialized legal intelligence, research, document analysis, and Vault retrieval at each step. This ensures lawyers receive deep legal insight, embedded in the Cowork layer, exactly when they need it.

The result: complex legal workflows that used to require jumping between platforms and internal repositories now run as a single coordinated sequence, with legal AI woven in throughout.

Key use cases:

  1. Opposition drafting. Ask Cowork to list your Vault projects, choose one, and let Harvey find the key brief or motion. Cowork with Harvey then runs the full sequence: identifying the strongest arguments in the filing, surfacing the weaknesses and gaps in each, and drafting a counterargument outline — delivered as a Word document or email-ready outline within Outlook. A multi-step litigation workflow, executed end-to-end without leaving Cowork.
  2. Document drafting. Ask Cowork to draft a mutual NDA between two technology companies exploring a potential acquisition, terminating two years from the effective date, with a standard carve-out for publicly available information. Harvey handles the drafting, Cowork delivers it as a ready-to-use .docx file. A task that would typically require finding a precedent, editing it to fit, and reformatting takes seconds.

Legal Work, Redefined

The goal of Harvey in Copilot isn't to add another tab to a lawyer's day. It's to eliminate the tool-switching that fragments legal work and makes every task harder than it needs to be.

The combination of Copilot and Copilot Cowork means Harvey is never more than a prompt away. From a quick clause comparison to a full negotiation strategy run end-to-end across Microsoft 365, Harvey powers the legal depth in both.
