Burges Salmon Selects :Harvey: to Support Targeted Legal Workflows

by Harvey TeamJan 27, 2026

Burges Salmon, one of the UK’s leading independent law firms, has selected Harvey to support targeted legal workflows following a structured, practice‑led trial. The decision reflects Burges Salmon’s thoughtful, disciplined approach to AI adoption and forms an important part of the firm’s wider Digital Enablement Programme (DEP).

During the evaluation, Burges Salmon explored how legal‑specific generative AI could complement the firm’s existing Microsoft Copilot foundation by supporting more specialised, matter‑specific workflows. Trial groups from across the firm, including practice teams such as Real Estate, provided structured feedback on how Harvey helped accelerate early‑stage analysis, improve the structure of first drafts, and enhance the consistency of information used in complex matters.

“We were impressed with Burges Salmon’s methodical and purposeful approach throughout the evaluation,” says Winston Weinberg, CEO of Harvey. “Their focus on responsible adoption, operational maturity and real‑world legal use cases exemplifies how firms can thoughtfully integrate AI to support both their people and their clients. We’re proud to support Burges Salmon as it moves into the next phase of its innovation journey.”

Harvey’s selection comes as Burges Salmon advances its DEP roadmap, which includes a firm‑wide rollout of Microsoft Copilot and increasing adoption of AI‑driven use cases to support research, analysis and operational workflows. Harvey will sit alongside this foundation to support more complex, practice‑specific scenarios within a framework of strong governance and responsible AI oversight.

Roger Bull, Burges Salmon’s Managing Partner, says: “Our Digital Enablement Programme is about investing in the tools, data and ways of working that help our people deliver the highest‑quality outcomes for clients. With Copilot embedded firm‑wide and Harvey adopted for targeted legal workflows, we’re maturing how AI supports our work; responsibly, securely and at scale.”

Emma Dowden, Chief Operating Officer at Burges Salmon, adds: “Our Digital Enablement Programme is ultimately about equipping our people with the tools, skills and confidence to work in smarter and more modern ways. What’s important about this next phase is not just the introduction of new technology, but the way we are embedding AI thoughtfully and responsibly across the firm. With Copilot firmly established as our foundation and Harvey now supporting more sophisticated legal workflows, we are creating the conditions for meaningful innovation where our lawyers can focus more of their time on the higher‑value thinking that clients rely on. It’s a significant step forward for the firm, and one that reflects our commitment to investing in the future of how we deliver legal services.”

Eddie Twemlow, Head of Technology at Burges Salmon, concludes: “We took a purposeful approach to selecting Harvey, grounded in trials, feedback and meaningful use cases. Combined with Copilot and our broader technology strategy, we will continue to use tools like Harvey to change the way we deliver value to our clients.”

Burges Salmon’s adoption of Harvey will be supported by the firm’s Responsible AI Board, which ensures that all AI use aligns with its obligations, objectives and values. This governance-led approach mirrors Harvey’s own commitment to building secure, reliable and responsible AI for the professional services sector.
