Assistant Composer

We’ve invested deeply in building features that span the full spectrum of legal work – from broad capabilities like drafting, research, large scale diligence, and discovery, to highly specialized workflows like merger control guidance, fund formation, and deposition transcript analysis.

From the beginning, our strategy has been to expand the platform with increasingly specific, high-value tools, and then collapse that complexity into a simple, unified interface. Using model orchestration, Harvey will intelligently route each query to the best data, workflow, or product surface – mirroring the way lawyers actually work and eliminating the need to context-switch between siloed tools.

Over time, Harvey becomes the intelligence layer for legal work, seamlessly orchestrating multiple tools to produce comprehensive work product. This first step is a unified interface that anticipates your needs and guides your work through intelligent suggestions.

We've simplified Harvey's homepage to help you get started faster. You'll see personalized suggestions based on your work, quick access to your most-used knowledge sources, and relevant workflows for you.

Draft and Chat in One Place

No more toggling between separate drafting and chat tools. All drafting functionality now lives in the main Assistant interface, allowing you to continue your flow of work in one place. You can draft documents, ask follow-up questions, and make revisions all within the same conversation thread.

For example, you can start drafting an agreement or clause, then ask "Are there any ambiguities in my language?" As you refine your draft, you can ask follow-up questions like "How can I make this more purchaser-friendly?" or "What would vendor’s counsel likely push back on?"— all while building your document in real-time.

This creates a more natural back-and-forth that matches how you actually work through legal problems: thinking, writing, questioning, and refining in a continuous flow.

More Powerful Document Editing

We built a new in-app draft editor to modify work output without having to export to other platforms. You can make manual text edits with full formatting capabilities, or start from scratch with a blank document. You can paste or upload your original document as a starting point—any revisions will automatically redline against your original.

You can also use Harvey as a notepad for quick notes or outlines, then ask Harvey to develop them into more polished documents. This mirrors how legal thinking often works: starting with rough ideas and iterating toward the final work product.

Ask Questions over Review Tables

Reviewing documents in a tabular format can be powerful for extracting dozens of data points simultaneously, but it can be difficult to summarize or synthesize across the entire table. We’re bringing the power of Assistant into Review tables, allowing you to ask a natural language query over your table.

This means you can summarize complex tables, synthesize information across multiple columns, draft documents based on table content, and identify patterns in your extracted data without switching tools or learning new interfaces.

What's Next

These features represent our ongoing commitment to making Harvey simpler yet more powerful—removing the friction that comes from juggling multiple tools while expanding what you can accomplish within a unified workflow.

These features are currently available in open beta and will be generally available in August. We’re excited to share more updates in the next few months as we continue building Harvey to be an intelligent agentic coworker for complex legal work.
